September saw me spending an idyllic few weeks on a friend’s farm in Donegal. It was a little slice of heaven. But autumn came in fast, and it got cold. I needed winter woolies, but had packed only summer clothes. Fortunately Donegal is full of wool. First I made my way to the wonderful little wool shop in Donegal town and found to my utter joy I was able to get inside in my wheelchair. It had been years since I had been inside a local yarn shop, they don’t come that way in London. After that, I later found Studio Donegal, and the wool stack in my room just seemed to grow by the day. Donegal is the perfect place for a holiday for any yarnie.
By the time I was heading to Carlingford to visit family I had several pairs of ‘Bluestack Mountain’ mittens made up for my kind friend and his friends. Now all I needed to do was finish writing up the pattern, and here it is! I hope you can get some of the hope and joy and peace from it that I found when designing it.

The mittens are an intermediate skill level crochet. They use basic stitches, plus a ‘front post mini puff’. This is a narrow puff stitch worked as a front post stitch, and full instructions are given.
The mits can be worked as trendy fingerless mittens - by keeping the palm of your hand warm they heat up the circulation, so your fingers don’t freeze either, but you still have them free so these are a convenient, easy fast make for those who want a contemporary look. Or, if you are like me, and only a full mitten will do, they can also be worked up as a mitten for the full hand.
They come in two sizes, Small, and Large.
