When October arrived, sweatshirts would disappear from my wardrobe. They ended up in boxes, waiting for the next spring. And although I loved their comfort, cotton never gave me the warmth I longed for in winter. As I packed away the last one, I thought: what if I could knit one - but using wool? You can probably guess what happened next…

BLUZA sweatshirt is an oversized sweater, worked top-down almost entirely in stockinette stitch. The cherry on top is its characteristic sweatshirt-style back construction, along with thoughtful details around the sleeves, neckline, and hem.

The pattern includes instructions for a Full Bust Adjustment, allowing you to adapt the circumference at the underarm level to your full bust measurement. You will also find directions on how to work optional horizontal bust darts, as well as how to shorten or lengthen the sleeves - along with plenty of tips throughout!

You can download a PDF preview with the most important information such as size guide, detailed measurements, yarn requirement, needles and notions in ENG and PL here.

Sizes:
BLUZA sweatshirt was designed with approx. 25 cm 9.75” of positive ease across all sizes. This means that the finished garment circumference at its widest point should be about 25 cm 9.75 in larger than your full bust measurement.

But - this is entirely up to your preference. If you prefer a less oversized fit, you can knit the sweatshirt with less ease, although I would not recommend going below 15 cm 6 in.

Choose a size that most closely matches your upper bust circumference (measurement taken around your body just underneath your armpits).

Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7, 8) are intended to fit an upper bust circumference of approx. 77.5 (85.75, 93.75, 102) 110 (118.25, 122.25, 134.5) cm /30.5 (33.75, 37, 40.25) 43.25 (46.5, 48, 53) in/.

The finished garment circumference for sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7, 8) is respectively 100 (110, 120, 130) 140 (150, 160, 170) cm /39.25 (43.25, 47.25, 51.25) 55 (59, 63, 67) in/ with a maximum possible modification to the circumference of 116.5 (127.75, 133.5, 144.5) 151 (159, 170, 177.75) cm /45.75 (50.25, 52.5, 57) 59.5 (62.5, 67, 70) in/.

Please note that size (8) wasn’t tested due to the lack of test knitters. If you wish to knit one of these, please let me know - I would to love to conduct a little test knit for you!
