Free pattern for a basic, multi-color granny square motif. Perfect for using up those scrap yarns you haven’t found a use for yet!

Pattern is written for Medium Weight yarn with a Size H hook, but you can switch up the hook size and yarn weight for the types of yarn scraps you have. Only thing is, if you’re making a blanket, the yarn weight and hook size needs to be the same for all the squares so that the squares will line up when you connect them.

I connected mine bohemian ‘gypsy’ style, with all sorts of colors connecting straight together with no borders in between. Super colorful and eccentric style. You can add a colored border to each square before stitching if you like, or add more rows using the same technique for larger squares. This motif is so versatile, you can make a truly one of a kind piece!
