Sizes: S M, L or 18.75” 21”, 23.25” circumference crown.

Size Note: If you are inbetween sizes choose the size that is smaller for a nice snug fit. If you need to go up or down a size more than what I’ve got written in the pattern, the chart repeats over an even number of stitches and can easily be adapted for a much smaller or much larger size if needed.

Yarn: All sizes can be made with 100g/4oz/375+yards of fingering weight yarn with leftovers to make an optional pom pom. For a similar hat to the example, use a split skein of fingering weight yarn in a matching gradient OR a single skein of (at most 3 colors) gradient yarn. I think it would also look great with two 50g half skeins high contrasting colors!

This hat uses a cute little slip stitch and mock cabled pattern to create a project that is high in texture, yet simple to work. :)

I used a set of 50g matching gradient cakes from Fierce Fibers that I’ve had in my stash for a few years. I knew they’d be either a set of fingerless mittens, or a hat. The pattern is worked using both cakes at the same time. This pattern could also be done using a single gradient skein pulling from both ends.

Each round is worked with just 1 strand, so it makes it super easy to remember the pattern! I worked the MC with the brighter pink of the inner part of the skein first, and the CC with the darker semi-solid, outer part of the second cake, for contrast. As the hat works up the colors blend together until it becomes a similar color as if it is worked with the same strand of yarn where the colors meet.

Once I got to the point where the colors were nearly identical, I cut the CC strand and continued working with the MC strand.

I am not a professional designer and this pattern has not been tested.
