This pattern is for a very simple Bolero, crocheting a rectangle and folding lengthways to give armholes.  Borders are then added to help shape and complete the piece. It is a brilliant ‘first’ pattern as it is simple and so easily adaptable.

This is such a versatile pattern, and any yarn can be used. For a lighter, Summer shrug I would use a 4ply yarn, and a thicker DK or even Aran for those chilly evenings. This pattern works particularly well with gradient cakes, and one the photos shows a sample using Dye Candy’s ‘Led Zepellin’ and a Fleabubs & Lala ‘The Mind Wanders’ gradient, both in 4ply SW Merino/nylon. I am also currently making my beautiful Daughter another green school BoleroLala, using a DK SW Merino/nylon in greens.

Honestly….anything goes, so grab a hook and some yarn and go for it!!!!!
