Designed to wear while you pad around the house sipping hot chocolate, or when you feel like curling up for an afternoon of knitting, these socks are soft and cozy, like a hug for your feet.

They also make great gifts--quick and easy to make, and the mini mock-cable pattern doesn’t require a cable needle. Enjoy!

PS. The foot and leg lengths are easy to adjust: Just work more repeats, until the desired size is reached.

Notes about toe shaping:

Before beginning toe, you have 26 sts on instep needle/s and 24 sts on sole needle/s (I find it easiest to work this part on five DPNs (four holding sts, fifth to work with) or two circulars/magic loop method.

OK, so assuming you have 5 DPNs going, you should have 13 sts on each instep needle and 12 on each sole needle. The beginning of your round is in the center of the heel, between the first 12 and second 12 heel sts.

Now you will work:

Next round: Knit sole stitches and on instep, P2tog, P across to last two stitches, P2tog, to create a purl ridge before beginning toe decreases.

What this means is that you will decrease one st at either side of the instep, so that you now have 12 sts on each needle (24 total instep, 24 total sole). You should be at the beginning of the round, which is in the center of the heel sts.

Next you will work the toe shaping as follows:

Round 1:

  • Work across first needle the half second heel st needle to 3 stitches before end of needle, K2tog, K1.
  • On first instep needle, K1, K2tog TBL.
  • Knit across instep to last three stitches on second instep needle, K2tog, K1.
  • On next needle the first 12 heel sts K1, K2tog TBL, knit to end of round.

Round 2: K around to end.

Work rows 1 and 2 until there are 12 instep and 12 sole stitches 6 sts on each needle if using 5 DPNs.

Then work decrease row only, until 6 total instep and 6 total heel stitches remain.

Arrange stitches and graft together with Kitchener stitch. If you prefer, you may also thread yarn through remaining stitches and draw tight to close. Weave in ends and block as desired.
