The Bona(R) mop came into my life a few years ago. We had a minor flood that damaged virtually all the 1940s hardwood floors in our home. A horrific “restoration” experience, but that’s another story for another time.

The floor guy refinished our floors using a Bona finish, and he recommended the Bona line of floor care products. I fell in love with the duster pad, in particular.

The original Bona(R) Microfiber Dusting Pad IS the BOMB – it’s big, soft, fluffy, and washable and slides across wood floors like a kitten’s backside.

This is a free knitting pattern to create spare dusting pads for your Bona mop. (Notice that I didn’t say “replacement” as it would be very hard to replace the “bona fide BONA” dusting pad!).

Yarn requirement notes:

  • Requires about 100 yds (held double to make about 50 working yards of a bulky weight yarn) of a cotton/acrylic blend yarn for the side of the duster that sticks to the Velcro-like strips. I do NOT recommend using 100% acrylic (I tried it!) as it will snag horribly on the Velcro! Cotton didn’t seem to stick to the Velcro, but a cotton/acrylic blend does!

  • Requires about 50 yds of a fluffy yarn like Pipsqueak. Boucle can work too, but not as nice. I also added fun fur for extra dust attraction and to get it out of the stash!

You need 3 double-pointed #10 needles to create this pattern, which can be worked totally seamless or with just one seam at one end.
