Bone cage! Ribs! Get it?! This hat is perfect for using up all those fabulous scraps of fingering-weight yarn, and then for giving as last-second gifts (oh no, I totally remembered your birthday). Experiment with your color combos - fade them, stripe them, add some mohair, or just pick your two favorites and knit your new favorite hat.

Materials
At least 40 grams or 175 yards each of two colors of sock/fingering-weight yarn for the Sm Adult size
Size US7 needles (I prefer circular magic loop, but you may like DPNs)
Finishing tools

Gauge
29 stitches of ribbing, unstretched= 4”
While gauge is not vital, changes in gauge may result in differing amounts of yarn used. I think it’s always better to have more yarn than you need than less so that you don’t run out part-way through.

Sizing
Baby (Child, Sm Adult, Lg Adult)
The ribbing of this hat means that it stretches like crazy to fit the circumference of just about anyone’s head. If you need to make it smaller or larger, add or subtract your CO stitches in numbers of 8. The differences in hat sizes will mostly be in lengths rather than number of stitches.
