My husband decided to come up with a knitting chart, and also a name for this pattern, the bonehat! He was inspired by the metal band logos and artwork he often designs. This hat could be perfect for Halloween, metal-fans, retro gamers, and people that are looking for a warm hat in general.

This pattern mainly consists of the chart designed by him (see photos). I have used this chart as a basis for a basic beanie-style hat, and provide written instructions for this. This hat worked up to be a medium to large adult size, but by changing your needle size and/or yarn, or amount of pattern repeats (mine were 8 repeats of the 15-stitch chart), you can easily adjust the sizing.

To be clear, your combination of personal tension, yarn, needle size, and pattern repeats, is what makes the final size. Since it is not easy to adjust personal tension, I would encourage you to adjust either yarn/needle size/number of pattern repeats, or a combination of these three to get the right fit.

I used less than 1 skein of main color, and less than 1 skein of contrast color.
