This pattern is a combination of hat and scarf. It prevents cold air from chilling that space of your neck between hat and scarf.

The hat’s construction is actually more of a bonnet. It begins with a provisional cast on. The back of the bonnet is knitted first. Stitches for body of the bonnet are picked up and knitted to the front edge. Short rows shape the front of the bonnet. Then stitches are picked up around the neck edge. The bonnet required one skein of yarn.

The scarf is worked separately. It’s dimensions are 7” by 79”, but this scarf is amenable to change of size. Just adjust the number of cast on stitches and/or the number of rows knitted. Colors can also be very easily changed.

The bonnet and scarf are joined with a three needle bind off.
