Cast on 30 sts loosely
Divide sts on 3 needles as follows:
Needle 1: 7 heel sts
Needle 2: 15 instep sts
Needle 3: 8 heel sts

Knit 21 rounds, on next round complete sts on needle 2 and stop.

Slip needle 3 sts onto needle one (15 sts on neelde one now)
One first row only, k2, m1, complete row (16 sts)
On last row only, decrease 1 st (15 sts remain)
Work back and forth as follows:
Row 1- sl 1 purlwise, k1: repeat to end
Row 2- sl 1 purlwise, p to end
Repeat these 2 rows 7 more times, 16 rows total

(Sl 1 = purlwise)
Row 1- k9, ssk, k1, turn
2- sl 1, p4, p2tog, p1, turn
3- sl 1, k5, ssk, k1, turn
4- sl 1, p6, p2tog, p1, turn
5- sl 1, k7, ssk, turn
6- sl 1, p7, p2tog, turn
7- work 4 sts, place marker for beginning of round

With a free needle (needle 1) knit remaining 5 heel sts. With the same needle, pick up 8 sts along the side of the heel.
Pick up and knit 1 sts from row below the first in step st to prevent a hole (14 sts on needle 1)
With a free needle (needle 2) work across 15 instep sts
With a free needle (needle 3) pick up and knit one stitch below first heel stitch to prevent a hole, with same needle pick up 8 sts along side of heel and work across remaining heel sts (13 sts on needle 3)

Needle 1- work till 3 sts left, k2tog, k1
Needle 2- work even
Needle 3- k1, ssk, k to end
Repeat rounds until 32 sts left

Needle 1- work till 3 sts left, k2tog, k1
Needle 2- k1, ssk, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Needle 3- k1, ssk, complete round
Repeat until 12 sts remain
Work sts on needle 1, sl sts from needle 3 onto needle 1
Knit needle 1 and 2 together to cast off.
Weave in ends
