The pattern was designed for Sunshine Yarns and was exclusive to the Sunshine yarns for few month and sold as a kit with Sunshine Yarns UltraLuxe Light.

Bordertown is an elegant shawl that features combination of simple lace and cables. The picot edge adds visual interest. The shawl is knitted sideways. One side of the picot/cable border and the top edge are knitted simultaneously with the body of the shawl. The other half of the border is knitted along the bind off edge at the same time as bind off is done. Bordertown is light and airy shawl for you to enjoy. The shawl looks lovely in both solid and variegated yarns.

The instructions are both written and charted.

Finished size:
After blocking, the sample shawl measures 168 cm (66 inches) long along the top edge and 82 cm (32 inches) deep.

Gauge
The gauge in lace pattern after blocking measures 12 sts x 18 rows in 10 cm x 10 cm. The gauge is not critical in knitting this shawl. Adjust your needle size to suit your yarn and achieve the size and the look of the shawl of your choice.

Yarn
1 skein of UltraLuxe Light by Sunshine Yarns, Fingering / 4 ply (75% Merino, 15% Cashmere, 10% Silk) 420 yards / 100 grams in colorway Golden Leaves.

Shawl Construction
The shawl is knitted sideways. One side of the picot/cable border and the top edge are knitted simultaneously with the body of the shawl. The other half of the border is knitted along the bind off edge at the same time as bind off is done. Border section will use about 12-14% of the total yarn used and if you have a scale, you can use your skein to the last inch. This information is included in the pattern as well as to how many sts you need to knit for a 100g skein.

Thank you so much to Aljona and Lotta for test knitting for me:
