The inspiration for the stitch pattern used in the Bouquet Cowl design was from the Japanese book Knitting Patterns 300 Lace.

The simple lace flower petals and leaves motif are separated by horizontal borders of garter stitch lines. The bottom edge pattern features the flower petals only, divided by sections of purl stitches that decrease and shape the bottom of the cowl to sit nicely on the shoulders.

There are two options for the cowl. Version A (top) has a “girly-style” collar of flowers that ruffle around the neck. Version B (bottom) ends with a plain knit section that is folded inside the lace cowl. All the better to fit closer to the neck and keep one warm on windy winter days.

Pattern was professionally tech edited by Robin Melanson.
