Box Top Tee
This design is in collaboration with Yarn Nerds as part of their ambassador program. It is also a collaboration of creative minds and fiber friends. Lisa’s Lush Merino is one of the most stunning superwash bases to work with and thus the inspiration for a simple, customizable, transitional piece came to be!
For those times between seasons Box Top is your go to layer for that sweet spot of warmth but not too warm!
This beginner-friendly drop shoulder tee is knit from the top down so you can completely customize your fit. Let’s chat a minute about fit though. I didn’t design this top specific to your body, but to fit my own. So, that means that the instructions are graded with my body as a baseline even when accounting for “standard” guidelines. Knowing this, go into this project knowing this is not going to be a pattern that is knit exactly to instructions. This design is written to give you the confidence and tools to knit a simple, wardrobe staple tee that fits your unique and perfect body. Gauge is flexible too, which can be a blessing and a curse (YOU NEED TO SWATCH!) but there is flexibility in your finished fabric. You can work from my gauge or if you have a fabric you like that’s slightly different, this garment is written to measurement, so you do you and enjoy the adventure!
Think of this tee as a lead sheet (in jazz this is just a framework) and you are the improviser. Modify, alter, switch it up. This is simply a guide to get you to an end result that you’ll love. I will walk you through the process step-by-step.
Important Note: If you choose to change the yoke depth or body length, you will have different yardage requirements than what is recommended in the notes. If you have questions, check out tester versions for their modifications, or feel free to email me!
