This blanket was inspired by patchwork blocks and consists of one simple shape - a diamond - pieced together to make six pointed stars and boxes. By changing the colours used, either the stars or the boxes can stand out; the effect is almost three dimensional. The diamonds are knitted in garter stitch and the cast off tails of yarn are used to assemble the blanket so the sewing is not as bad as it might seem.

My blanket was knitted with DK weight yarn and is about 104 cm / 41”² but you could use other weights of yarn and make a blanket of any size.

The diamonds are very simple to knit and would make a good portable project. The blanket is finished with a knitted on border and an I cord edging.

All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease.
