This Boxy V-Neck Vest is inspired by babaà vest no24. It features a rolled open hem, deep armholes, a V-neck, and garter stitch edges instead of the common ribbed edge. The heavy cotton yarn gives the vest a lovely drapey feel, and its relaxed fit means it can be thrown over a tee or worn on its own on a warm day.

Width under armholes: 54 cm
Length, from top of shoulder to hem: 56 cm

Model has a bust circumference of 88cm, so the finished garment has about 20 cm positive ease.

4 balls of Shiny Happy Cotton, Wool and the Gang (100% Cotton, 100 g / 142m per ball, aran/worsted weight)

Needles
US 8 / 5mm circular needle (80cm cable)

Gauge
15 sts x 22 rows = 10cm x 10cm in stockinette stitch, on US 8 needles

Constructions

1. The vest is worked bottom-up in the round to the underarm. The work is then divided into Back and Front.

2. Work the Back first, flat. After armhole shaping, work German short rows for shoulder shaping.

3. Left Front and Right Front are worked separately, and the Left Front is worked first. Armhole shaping and neckline shaping are worked at the same time after the V-neck split.

4. After both fronts are done, join the front and back by seaming the shoulders together using three-needle bind-off.
