Hap shawls were a wardrobe staple for generations of Shetland Isles women and this traditional design is enjoying revival today. They were typically formed from a plain centre square or triangle paired with a tripod border and lace edging. In the final instalment of Mary Henderson’s three-part pattern, we have instructions for the lace edging, using natural shades of Jamieson & Smith wool.
