All-over colorwork makes for extra-warm and comfy fingerless mittens, perfect for when you need to keep your fingers free in very cold weather.

The traditional Fair Isle “peerie” patterns have small-repeat stitch patterns that are easy to memorize. And strong diagonal lines help keep your fabric smooth, as the float lengths and positions vary from row to row. Even if you’ve never worked stranded colorwork before, this pattern is easy and forgiving.

Many color combinations would work well for this pattern: you just need a dark, a light, and a third color that contrasts with both. These mitts would look terrific in black or charcoal, off -white, and red; or consider navy, white, and a bright lime green.

Uses three colors of yarn - yardage listed is total.
