These mittens are luxuriously warm, yet light-weight and squishy. They are worked in the round with dk weight yarn, combining Stockinette Brioche, Ribbed Brioche, and a Ribbed Cable motif. Work them in an alpaca blend for even more warmth.

Size: Adult - will stretch up to 8.5” (21 cm) circumference at the widest part of hand.

Finished measurements: 7” (18 cm) circumference at widest part of hand, designed for up to 1.5” (3 cm) of negative ease. 7.5” (19 cm) from wrist, and can be made longer or shorter by adding or decreasing repeats of the cable pattern.

Yarns tested include Alpaca with a Twist Baby Twist, Berroco Ultra Light, and Knit Picks Capra. Yarns with greater than 50% cotton, bamboo, or silk not recommended.

This pattern uses Brioche terms and abbreviations as established by Nancy Marchant in her excellent book Knitting Brioche (North Light Books, 2009) and at her website www.thebriochestitch.com).

Many thanks to tech editor Katherine Vaughan.
