Based on the Braided Rivers in the South Island of New Zealand, this triangular shawl is knitted with 4 ply merino, also sourced from the South Island.

Starting with 3 stitches, your shawl will increase to 413 stitches over 274 rows.

There are 3 ‘braids’, created with the German Short Row (GSR) technique. If you are unfamiliar with this technique, I highly recommend you Google and look at tutorials. Once you have completed one braid, the rest will be easy.

The pattern is colour coded for each braid, as well as for each colour change.
