October 10, 2020 is World Mental Health Day, Brain Space has been created as a collaborative fundraising project between YumiYarns & Alive with Purpose yarns. Because of this, I’m not running my normal pattern launch sale & instead I will be donating 50% of the Brain Space pattern proceeds for the month of October to mental health services in MN.

Alive with Purpose always donates 20% of their sales to Mental Health Services in MN. They have beautiful hand-dyed colorways that are perfect for mixing and matching in a Brain Space Shawl or any other project you may wish to make.

(If $5.99 for a pattern is out of your budget, please see the note at the bottom of this section and feel free to use the code.)

Sometimes we just need to play with pretty yarn and make something fun. Brain Space came about because I adore vibrant, multi-colored yarn and for once I didn’t want to try and “normalize” an extravagant colorway with a more subdued semi-solid contrast. I wanted to design a shawl that was just as textural and energetic as the yarns that inspired it, but I also wanted it to be easy and fun to knit from cast-on to bind-off.

Worked from the top-down, this triangle shawl features eyelets and elongated cables for the simple, textural patterning. It’s easy to customize the size by adding or subtracting rows, just keep in mind the amount of yarn for the tassels if you’re planning to add them!

YumiYarns is a Snack Shack sponsor for the DCS Pigskin Party so you get an extra 20 points for using one of my patterns! Use code: pigskinparty2020 to get 30% off all my patterns through February 8, 2021.

Share your project & connect with other knitters in the YumiYarns Ravelry group! We’d love to see your version & cheer you on as you go.
