Basic knit and purl stitches combine to make this easy cap that can be worn two ways: brim down for a looser fit at the crown or brim turned up to pull the cap down snug at the top of the head. The undulating waves are produced by the different properties of the ribbing, stockinette and garter stitch sections, so no cabling or fancy techniques are involved. The waves and ribbing also insure that this cap remains stretchy no matter what. This is an adult sized cap; one very expandable size fits all.

  • This pattern is appropriate for the advanced beginner that is comfortable knitting in the round.

  • Instructions for the main pattern are given in both charted and written forms, the crown decrease sequence is given in written form only.

  • Yarn recommendations: Worsted weight yarn in a solid or slightly tonal color. Medium to light shades will show the pattern best.
