Plaid is hot. Tartan knits are a great way to add a little knitted plaid flair to your wardrobe. There are two techniques used to create knitted “faux plaid”.

The Brantley Baby Blanket focuses on the easier of the two techniques. It’s a great way to learn tartan knitting and you’ll have a gorgeous, timeless baby blanket at he end. The possibilities for color combinations are endless because this blanket pattern is based on a three color repeat.

I’ve also included a bonus pattern for the Easy Peasy Tartan Wrist Warmers for kids. These could make a great secondary present for say the baby’s sibling. Most importantly, they teach you the second tartan knitting technique. You will be using the left over yarn from the blanket so there is no additional cost - plus they can be knit and finished in an afternoon.
