It’s every hockey fan’s duty to proudly display their true colours. Keep warm and cheer on with the Breakaway Beanie!

This hat is quickly cast on at the top and worked down, so you can make it fit perfectly on any head. You just continue the increases in sequence until the hat is large enough for the wearer. Can’t measure the head your beanie is intended for? Lucy gives sizing instructions so that you can make Breakaway Beanies for every fan in your life: from baby to adult. Lucy’s beanie (shown above) is knit in River City Yarn’s Hat Trick in Calgary’s colours (https://rivercityyarns.com/collections/rcy-originals/prod...).

You’ll need 2.5 mm needles for working a small circumference (crown/top of the hat) in the round: use a set of 5 DPNs or a long circular for Magic Loop or 2 shorter circulars; and 3.0 mm needles for working (I-cord and brim/body of hat) in the round: (for all but the Baby size), a 40cm / 16 inch circular works for the body of the hat. For the Baby size, a set of 5 DPNs or a long circular for Magic Loop or 2 shorter circulars work for the remainder of the hat.
