The pattern in this sock reminds me of a Caisson breakwater. The water bounces off the linear structure, creating ripples off of each side. I used a simple, repetitive pattern to create the chevrons, which can be slightly snugger than plain stockinette. Adjust your needle size accordingly for greatest comfort.

NOTE The Breakwater stitch pattern does not have much give when worked around the entire calf. I recommend going up a needle size (or pattern size) if you have wide feet or ankles. You might also consider working the Breakwater stitch on just the front of the leg rather than all the way around for more ease.
