Breiwick is a top-down seamless yoke sweater that is knit in the round. There is a ribbed neckline followed by short rows at the back of the neck for a comfortable fit. The yoke features stranded colourwork that has been inspired by Fair Isle motifs. There is optional waist and hip shaping to add feminine shape, and the hem and wrist cuffs are finished off with elements of the Fair Isle yoke, followed by ribbing. The pattern includes a colourwork chart as well as a symbol chart, for you to colour in with your own colours.

Breiwick has been inspired by the stranded colourwork found in the southernmost tip of the Shetland Islands, Fair Isle. The motif follows the classic design principles of Fair Isle knitting, for example, there are never more than 2 colours worked in one round, and there are strong diagonals created by alternating X’s and O’s, called OXO’s. Breiwick reflects the trend found in the 1960’s and 70’s where the colourwork was worked in the yoke only.
