Zoa tiene manos de oro. Ha conseguido en muy poco tiempo hacer que Paca la Alpaca sea una de las marcas de lana indy más potentes del panorama, con un colorido único que la distingue. Tú ves una madeja sin etiqueta y sabes por su color que es de Paca la Alpaca.
Pero es que a base de trabajar con ella, me contó que de pequeña vivió en Galicia, más concretamente en la ciudad que me adoptó hace mucho tiempo, A Coruña y como yo adora esta tierra aunque estuviera aquí poco tiempo.
Ella me propuso unos cuantos nombres que le recordaban a su infancia y de los que me propuso yo me quedé con BREOGÁN, porque a mí también me recuerda a cuando era pequeña. Mi padre era un pésimo cantante pero un gran animador de viajes y momentos aburridos, que a menudo solucionaba cantando el himno de Galicia, no me preguntéis por qué…, el caso es que nos hacía cantar el final a coro “nación de Breogán, de Breogán”
Así que esta prenda se llama Breogán en memoria de nuestras infancias, quién me iba a decir a mí que acabaría en Galicia, sabiendo que Breogán era un rey celta y que tendría esta historia en común con Zoa.

NOCIONES PREVIAS:
Es necesario saber tejer punto del derecho y del revés, montar puntos mediante el método de la hebra larga, hacer aumentos y conocer la técnica de steek.

CONSTRUCCIÓN:
Esta chaqueta se empieza tejiendo por el escote, a continuación se teje el cuerpo, luego se tejen las mangas. Se realiza de una sola pieza, sin ninguna costura y sólo con vueltas del lado derecho, tejido con agujas circulares. Al final se realiza la técnica del steek para convertir la prenda en una chaqueta.

TALLAS:
Talla XS: contorno de pecho en de la prenda 90 cm / 35”.
Talla S: contorno de pecho de la prenda 96 cm / 38”.
Talla M: contorno de pecho de la prenda 106 cm / 42”.
Talla L: contorno de pecho de la prenda 110 cm / 43”.
Talla XL: contorno de pecho de la prenda 118 cm / 46”.
Talla 2XL: contorno de pecho de la prenda 126 cm / 50”.
En todos los casos la altura de la prenda es de 60 cm / 24”, el contorno de brazo está ajustado al estándar de tallaje en función del contorno del pecho. Se recomienda llevarlo con una holgura positiva de 2 cm / 0.75”.

AGUJAS:
Agujas circulares de 4 mm (US 6) con cables de 40 cm (16”) para el escote y 80 cm (32”) para el cuerpo, o las necesarias para obtener la muestra de tensión. Una aguja de al menos un número mayor para el cierre de puntos.

ACCESORIOS:
6 marcadores, 5 iguales y 1 distinto para el inicio de la vuelta; aguja lanera para rematar hebras; 5 (5, 5, 5, 5, 5) botones.

HILO:
4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) madejas Merino SW DK de Paca la Alpaca (100% Merino Superwash; 225 m / 100 g; 246 yds / 3.52 oz).

MUESTRA:
20 puntos y 28 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) en punto jersey después de bloquear.

Zoa’s hands are golden. In very little time she has made Paca la Alpaca one of the strongest brands of the indy-dyed yarn scene, with a unique colour range that stands out. As soon as you see one of her skeins, even without its label, from its colour you can tell it is a Paca La Alpaca.

Upon working with her, Zoa told me she had lived in Galicia when she was young. In particular, she lived in the city that adopted me a long time ago, A Coruña. Just as I do, she adores this land, even if she did not stay here long.

She suggested a few names that reminded her of her childhood, and from them I chose BREOGÁN, because it also reminded me of my own childhood. My father was an awful singer, but a great entertainer during road trips and other boring times, which he often solved by singing Galicia’s national anthem, do not ask me why! The thing is, he made us chant the end verse “nación de Breogán, de Breogán”.

So this cardigan is called Breogán in memory of our childhood. Who would have told me that I would end up living in Galicia, knowing that Breogán was a Celtic king and that I would share this story with Zoa?

SKILLS:
To knit this cardigan, you need to know how to knit, purl, perform a long tail cast-on, make increases and decreases, and be familiar with the steek technique.

CONSTRUCTION:
This cardigan is knit top-down, starting at the neckline, shaping the yoke with raglan increases, then knitting the body and finally the sleeves. Is knit seamlessly, only with right side rows, in one piece, and in the round. Basically, you will knit a sweater and at the end, a steek is performed, to transform it into a cardigan.

NEEDLES:
4 mm (US 6) circular needles with 40 cm (16”) cable for neckline and yoke and 80 cm (32”) cable for the body, or the required needle size to obtain gauge. Needles one size larger at least, for bind-off. 4 mm (US6) or smaller crochet hook for reinforcing the steek.

NOTIONS:
6 stitch markers (5 the same and 1 different to indicate the beginning of the round), spare cables, 5 (5, 5, 5, 5, 5) buttons, tapestry needle to weave in ends.

YARN:
4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins Merino SW DK from Paca la Alpaca (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 225 m / 100g; 246 yds / 3.52 oz).

GAUGE:
20 stitches and 28 rows in 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
