Briar Baby Romper & Booties
A darling knitting pattern for my BRIAR Romper, knit in a simple classic style, with shoulder straps, plus matching booties. This is a beginner friendly, quick and easy pattern that is knit flat, and that you will want to use again and again for baby gifts.
Newborn size ( for a baby under 20 days old) This is perfect as a hospital coming home outfit, and as a newborn photography prop outfit for your baby’s first photo shoot. (newborn size will also fit a 20 to 21 inch Reborn doll)
0-3 months size is perfect for giving as a baby shower gift for a new baby. The outfit is a simple, classic, unisex style that you can make for baby boys or girls.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Knitting needles: 5mm / US 8 for the romper
4mm/ US 6 for the booties.
Yarn:
Romper: 1 x 50g ball (150m/ 160 yards) of Drops Air or any Aran / Worsted yarn
Booties: 25g of the same yarn.
(if you are making the newborn size, then 1 ball is enough for the romper and the booties)
I use the Drops Air for newborn props as it is very light and soft, perfect year-round.
1 button (size and shape don’t matter, as it is just decorative)
Notes: I usually knit using a circular needle, as I find it faster and it takes the weight of the garment off your wrists. I knit back and forth on the circulars, not in the round, so you can use either circular needles or straight needles and do the same.
GAUGE: 17 sts x 22 rows of stocking stitch = 10 x 10cm / 4 x 4 inches
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner with basic skills – be able to increase and decrease, knit and purl.
