Bright Baby Bean Blanket is a relaxing crochet pattern, suitable both for beginners seeking to learn new stitches, as well as for more experienced crocheters. This pattern is written in US terminology. The finished blanket size is 65 x 85 cm (approximately 25.5 x 33.5 inches), so the blanket can be completed pretty quickly.
This pattern consists of only two stitches, but produces a texture that is modern-looking and has an amazing drape. It also incorporates color blocking technique (multiple colors are used to make the blanket), which gives the maker room for some creative freedom. Color chart and written instructions where to switch colors are provided, but feel free to play around when mixing the colors.
Although the pattern is pretty straight-forward, it is rated as advanced beginner because the two stitches used are not basic everyday stitches, and require some practice. But fear not, because this pattern provides written instructions explaining those stitches well, and also provides links to my video tutorials. The construction of the blanket is simple, no seaming is needed, and there are only a few yarn ends to weave in after you’re done.
The pattern calls for a 4mm crochet hook and uses cotton DK yarn, but those can be substituted if you take care to meet the gauge specified in the pattern.
The Bright Baby Bean Blanket is a perfect make to snuggle up your baby in or a lovely homemade gift for an expecting friend. I hope you have fun making it!
