MATERIALS and TOOLS
The chart is created using four different colors (two colors in each round). I used unmercerized but strong cotton thread 197 yards per 50 gr. Crochet hook №2. Any yarn and appropriately sized hook can be used to make this pattern but you will get a different size square. Acrylic yarns, cottons or a mixed fiber all will work well.

SIZE
Finished size 30 cm (approx. 12’’), weight — 76 g.

“Bright Star Tile” is made in 40 rounds, starting with a magic circle. Tile is crocheted in the round from the center and outward, using mosaic overlay crochet technique. The technique is not difficult, just pay close attention to the stitch placement in the chart. You will need to already be comfortable with the BLsc / FLdc technique of mosaic crochet worked from a chart and also foundation single crochet.

Stitches used are (all in US terms): slip stitch, chain stitch, single crochet in back loop only, double crochet in front loop only.

You can join as many motifs together as you want to create as large a blanket as you want or make a matching cushion cover, bag, coaster, use motif as a pocket…

NOTES:

  1. All Stitches are to be worked into the back loop only, unless otherwise specified.
  2. Do not cut colors after each round. Instead, drop unused color to back, picking it up again as needed. At end of round when joining, “capture” unused color in the back with your slip stitch join, getting it ready to be brought up for the next round – it will keep the back of your square nice and tidy.
