Designed at the beginning of 2020, this pretty cowl was going to be called 2020 Vision. Alas, the year turned into something less than crystal clear. Let’s look to a Brighter Future instead.

This pattern had a large and small cowl as well as a new shawlette version. Charts are included for the cowl version.

Materials:
3mm hook

Large Cowl
Baa Ram Ewe, Titus, 4ply, 70% British Wool, 30% British Alpaca, (320m/350yds/100g),
1 skein in Nidderdale - Yarn A (YA) and…
Drops Nord, 4ply, 30% Polyamide, 25% Wool, 45% Alpaca (170m/186yds/50g),
1 ball in Powder Pink -Yarn B (YB).
Or, one skein of sock-weight yarn of 400 m/437yds/100g.

Small Cowl
The Little Grey Girl, high-twist sock: 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon, (100g/365m/ 400yds), 1 skein in Raphael.

Shawlette
Zakami Undyed, fingering weight, non-superwash, 100% naturally grey baby llama, (400m/437yds/100g), 1 skein.

Post blocking tension: 10cm = 11rows/21 sts

Finished sizes:
Large Cowl: Top to point: 22 inches/ 56 cm. Circumference: 25.5 inches / 65 cm
Small Cowl: Top to point: 18.5 inches / 47 cm. Circumference: 22.75 inches / 58 cm
Shawlette: Top to point: 18.5 inches / 47 cm. Wingspan: 47.25 inches / 120 cm

Notes:

The cowls are made in one piece from the top down. Starting off as a triangle, the sides are then squared off. Those two sides are sewn together to create the cowl.
