The Brightside Shawl is a triangular wrap featuring simple garter stitch in two alternating colours. The shawl is constructed sideways, progressing seamlessly from tip to tip, working an I-cord boarder along the top edge and slipped stitches along the bottom edge. The slipped stitches are picked up to create a fun decorative border. You can finish the shawl with optional fringe or tassels for a little extra flair!!

• Notions: Tapestry needle for weaving in your ends, Stitch Markers: centre marker (1), DS markers (12), Progress Keeper, Crochet hook for fringed version of shawl

• Techniques used: Knitting Flat, Garter Stitch Knitting, Grafting I-Cord Tip, Picking Up Selvedge Stitches, Short Rows, I-Cord Bind Off, Fringe or Tassels

• Stitches used: knit, purl, k2tog, k2togtbl, k3tog, sl1wyif, sl3wyif, DS (for short rows), ssk, sssk, yo

100 g, 400 yds/366 m of DK weight yarn, 2 skeins
Contrast Colour: Spincycle Yarns, Dyed In The Wool in colourway Wallflower
50 g, 200 yds /183 m of sport weight yarn, 3 skeins

Gauge: 21 sts x 42 rows = 4x4”/10x10 cm in garter stitch

Sample 2 - Tasselled:

50 g, 200 yds/183 m of sport weight yarn, 3 skeins

Gauge: 22 sts x 46 rows = 4x4”/10x10 cm in garter stitch
