The Brigid Hat is a fair isle colourwork knit hat available from youth to adult sizes. Named after the Celtic goddess, Brigid, a healer and poet, she is often associated with the birch tree, a symbol of new beginnings. The Brigid Hat features a band of colourwork, between sections knit in the main colour, emulating the bark of her sacred tree.
Knit from the bottom up in the round, a fully customizable brim is knit in 2x2 rib in the main colour to the length of your preference, to be folded as many times as desired. The band of colourwork is worked after the brim. This is followed by crown decreases, worked in the main colour to close the top of the hat. There are options provided to customize your brim and crown shaping, and modification options for fit adjustment, length adjustment, width adjust, and different yarn weights.

Size Guide:
The Brigid Hat is designed with 1-3 cm ½ - 1 inches of positive ease. Positive ease refers to the final garment measuring larger than your initial measurement. It is recommended that you steam or wet block the hat when measurements are provided to ensure you meet the recommended measurements.
Sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are based on a head circumference of 45 - 47, 49 - 51, 53 - 55 (57 - 59, 61 - 63) cm 17¾ - 18½, 19¼ - 20, 21 - 21¾ (22½ - 23¼, 24 - 24¾) inches.
To choose your size:
- Measure your head at its widest circumference, making sure the measuring tape is snug but not too tight. You should be able to fit a finger underneath the measuring tape.
- Add 1-3 cm ½ - 1 inches to your head measurement to account for positive ease.
- Use the resulting measurements when selecting your size. For example,For example, if your head circumference measures 50 cm 19¾ inches, knit a size 2.
