This unisex DK-weight cardigan, part of the larger book collection, Free Spirit Knits, is knit from the bottom hem up to the armholes in the round. The sleeves are then knit in the round and the body and sleeves are joined at the yoke. The yoke is shaped with decrease rounds interspersed with easy vertically striped colorwork bands. This piece has minimal seaming.

The sample shown is size 45 3/4” (116 cm) with several inches of positive ease.

Yarn requirements:
5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) skeins of main color
1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2) skeins of each of the contrast colors (5 in total)

Note that the colorwork pattern is presented in chart-form only.

This pattern is available as part of a print book or as a digital edition - the price is reflective of the entire 20-pattern book collection. It is not available at this time as an individual download.

Inspiration: Brimstone Gulch is one of the narrowest slot canyons found in the Southwest United States. It measures no more than a yard wide at the broadest point and is completely impassible in some areas, measuring only a few inches in width. The narrow nature of these canyons near Escalante, Utah, causes narrow shafts of sunlight to move along the canyon ways as the daytime sunlight changes angles.
