Brindling Beanie
Brindling Beanie is an all-over brioche design with an extremely squishy and stretchy texture. The pattern includes a shaped crown version with brioche decreases but also a more simplistic option, which works well if you plan to attach a pom.
If you are new to brioche knitting, this beanie is not an ideal starting point. Knitting brioche in the round, with decreases, requires a bit of practice.
The instructions include four yarn weights (Bulky, Light Bulky, Aran, DK), one size each, plus recommendations on how to customize the size if needed.
This pattern works well for almost any yarn – from single ply handdyed merino beauties to fluffy tubular yarns. Even chained yarns can shine, which normally don’t hold up well in texture knitting. If you have not done a lot of brioche knitting, I recommend not using a yarn with lots of micro-strands. In the body section this is not a problem but the decreases can get tricky if your yarn is splitting easily.
Because brioche creates such a stretchy fabric, I usually go down 1-2 needle sizes from the standard recommendation for the yarn.
