Pattern Description

Wrap yourself in warmth and texture with this beautifully squishy brioche cowl — a mindful knit that highlights the depth and softness of wool in every stitch. Designed to showcase tonal or hand-dyed yarns, the brioche stitch creates a reversible, plush fabric that feels luxurious against the skin.

Perfect for slow, meditative knitting, this project is ideal for knitters looking to explore the rhythm of brioche in a simple, wearable shape. Whether you choose subtle natural shades or vibrant, foraged-inspired colourways, the finished cowl is both timeless and deeply personal — a comforting layer for woodland walks or quiet moments by the fire.

✨ Pattern Notes

This cowl is knit in the round, using two-colour brioche (or single-colour brioche if preferred).

Instructions are written for one size, with notes for adjusting width and height.

Suitable for adventurous beginners familiar with knit, purl, and yarn overs.

Pattern includes step-by-step guidance for brioche basics and tips for tidy edges and seamless finishing.

The brioche fabric is very stretchy, so measurements are approximate.

Pattern Inspiration

This design was inspired by the soft undulations of moss-covered stone walls and shaded woodland paths — textures that echo in the flowing brioche ribs. A slow, grounding knit, perfect for connecting hands, wool, and landscape.
