Update May 2022: I’ve added an additional crown shaping; choose the one you like best! Both the four section and six section crowns are included in the updated pattern.

Pastiche: A piece consisting of motifs or techniques borrowed from other sources. I’ve taken my favorite elements from two designs in my Brioche Hat Trick Collection, and recombined them especially for my 2 color brioche in the round knitting classes.

We begin at the lower edge with 2 color brioche rib, as in Clematis Seed. Simple increases and decreases then form leaves as in Heliotrope. The swirling crown is a more gradual version of the Clematis Seed crown. It’s all a big mash up for a speed start in brioche!

This pattern is an addition to my Brioche Hat Trick e-book: 4 brioche hat patterns for your enjoyment!

Two contrasting colors will make your brioche dreams come true.

July 2020: I’ve added a tutorial for another way to handle the tricky bits at the beginning/end of rounds; see my PDXKnitterati Tutorials page if you’d like to try an alternate way.
