Brittany’s buttoned cowl is a warm and versatile piece of neck wear. The combination of cables and lace make this cowl both delicate and cozy, while the toggles allow for it to be worn in several different ways. The length is easily adjusted by working more or fewer repeats of the main pattern and the buttons keep even a short scarf securely around the neck. The instructions are fully written with a chart provided for the main stitch pattern.

Sizing
Cowl pictured measures 9 inches/22.5 cm wide and 32 inches/80 cm long. The length can be adjusted by adding or subtracting repeats of the cable and lace pattern. Allow an additional 20 yds/18 m for every 2 inches/5 cm of added length.

Gauge
24 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in k2, p2 rib unstretched. While gauge is not critical for this project, it will affect the finished size and amount of yarn used.

Materials

  • Any dk weight yarn with approximately 131 yds/120 m to 50g that will allow the stitches to show clearly and be comfortable around the wearer’s neck. Shown in Rowan Purelife British Sheep Breeds Bluefaced Leicester.
