CHILDREN’S SWEATER S is a seamless, top-down sweater worked in the round. The yoke is shaped with raglan increases and a simple cable pattern.

After the body and sleeves are separated, two cable columns are established under each arm and continued down the sides of the body. The neckband is worked in 1 × 1 ribbing, folded to the inside, and sewn down. The folded sleeve cuffs are turned outward.

Yarn substitution

Other yarns may be used, provided they produce the correct gauge of 16 stitches × 21 rounds per 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4 in after washing and drying flat.

Choose a yarn with a similar weight, structure, and drape. A soft merino, alpaca, wool, cotton blend, or similar yarn suitable for children can be used. For the best result, choose a yarn with enough stitch definition to show the cable pattern clearly.

Changing the fiber content may affect the sweater’s elasticity, drape, finished measurements, and yarn requirements. Always knit and wash a gauge swatch before beginning, and make sure you have sufficient yardage for your chosen size.
