Brokeback scarf
The Brokeback scarf is worked in the round, sideways from I-cord to I-cord. It has two simple texture patterns, one on each side, so really you get two scarves in one! The triangular shape is achieved with increases and decreases. Work it in a cotton yarn for warmer seasons or in wool for when the cold creeps in.
YARN
BC Garn Summer in Cashmere (165 st ≈ 180 yds. / 50 g). I used colour 15 Brass.
SIZES
One size. Se schematic and measurements in photos.
YARN AMOUNT
2 balls OR approx. 300 m ≈ 328 yds.
ALTERNATIVE YARN
Another sport-weight yarn. I’ve knitted two other Brokeback scarves, one in Esther by Permin and one in BC Garn Bio Balance, which worked very well even though these yarns are classified as fingering-weight yarns.
GAUGE
23 sts x 36 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” with 3,5 mm (US 4) needles over texture pattern, after blocking.
NEEDLES
3,5 mm (US 4) circular needle, at least 80 cm / 32”+ two 3,5 mm (US 4) DPN’s for I-cord.
The pattern is written for using the Magic Loop-technique, but if you rather use DPN’s that works too, then DPN 1+2 = needle 1 in the pattern and DPN 3+4 = needle 2 in the pattern.
TECHNIQUES
Increases, decreases, I-cord.
NOTIONS
Darning needle, scissors.
