Broken Accordion 2-1 over 8
Simple enough for a beginning knitter, this easy and easily memorized stitch pattern makes reversible scarf that looks far more difficult than it is, and that can be knitted in almost any yarn at any gauge. It consists of two one-row patterns, knitted in layers. The stitch pattern is from Cecelia Campochiaro’s new book, Reversible Knitting, and is also the sample pattern she used on a teaching handout in her class.
Knitting on a smaller needle gives a more textured, nubbly effect, as in the first two examples. while knitting with a larger needle gives a flatter effect, as in the example from the Reversible Knitting book. Casting on four extra stitches--two at each edge---for a garter stitch selvage makes the scarf lie flatter.
