The Brooks River Pullover is a boxy, oversized pullover with dropped sleeves and an addictive lace pattern, perfect for tromping in the woods, curling up with hot chocolate and a book, or even just running errands. It looks effortlessly, fabulously casual and goes with everything.

Brooks River is also a river in Katmai National Park in Alaska, home to an amazing population of grizzly bears whose annual efforts to bulk up for hibernation are celebrated during Fat Bear Week. I look forward to Fat Bear Week all year, and the river lace on this sweater was inspired by the countless hours I’ve spent watching these bears catching salmon on the beautiful Brooks River.

The sweater is cast on at the bottom and worked seamlessly to the underarms. The front and back are worked separately and flat and joined at the shoulder after shaping the neckline. The sleeves are knit in the round from shoulder to cuff.
