The broomstick is one of my favourite crochet stitches. I love the way the loops twist and then are secured above. I’ve used broomstick stitch here to create horizontal lines and a lacy effect. The pattern gives options for thin straps and thick straps. The top can also be worn strapless, as there’s an option for a drawstring around the top edge to cinch and secure.

You will need a 6mm hook and 6-7 50g balls of bulky weight yarn (used in pattern: Schoeller & Stahl cotton mix), plus a small amount of lightweight yarn in a contrasting colour (used here, less than one skein of Eco-fil cotton). Pattern is written using US crochet terms.
