Bryony is a speedy slipover with half brioche stitch detailing adding a bit of visual – and knitting - interest.

With a variety of fit options, including short row bust darts to add length to the front, and bust adjustment to add width over the bust, Bryony can be customised to get the fit you want.

With a little positive ease for comfort, and a length that hits at the natural waist, she’s a great addition to your wardobe – adding warmth over dresses, or styled casually with jeans and a top.

And with seamless construction, edgings knitted as part of the top, and no need to pick up stitches for any finishing, she’s as laid-back to knit as she is to wear.

Key information
The Bryony slipover is worked seamlessly from the top down. To start, the upper back is worked back and forwards in rows down to the bottom of the armholes, before stitches are picked up for the fronts, and joined at the bottom of the neckline with travelling half brioche detail. The optional bust adjustment can be worked along with the armhole shaping, before the front and back are joined in the round.

The half brioche detailing continues down the centre front and at each side “seam” after the join, and the pattern provides options for short row bust darts before the second part of the optional bust adjustment.

Finally, a split hem is worked in half brioche stitch.

Bryony is graded in 9 sizes to fit from a 28in/70cm to 66in/165cm bust. Where numbers vary according to size, they’re written as 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8, 9.

Suggested yarn:
DK or aran weight yarn that meets gauge. The green sample is GamerCrafting DK in Loam Dryad, and the beige is Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt Tweed in Tutti Frutti.

Yarn requirements:
345 (400, 455, 515, 580) 660, 725, 815, 880m / 380 (440, 500, 565, 635) 725, 795, 895, 965 yds.

These yarn requirements take into account the yarn needed to work the optional bust adjustment, but if you wish to lengthen your top you will need more yarn.

Finished size and fit - see table in photo for measurements and schematic
The Bryony slipover is designed to fit with 0-2”/0-5cm of positive ease at the bust.

As the Bryony slipover has fit options, the best way to get the right fit is to start with your actual upper bust measurement. This is taken under the armpits, above your full bust, and gives a truer reflection of your overall frame than a full bust measurement.

Compare the finished chest circumference of this size with your full bust measurement to determine whether or not to work the optional bust adjustment; you can add either 2”/5cm or 4”/10cm to the bust of your top by working this adjustment. You then also have the option to add length to the front of your top to prevent it riding up, so you can create the perfect fit for you.

Suggested needles (and notions):
• 4mm (US 6) and 4.5mm (US 7) long circular needles
• 6 removable stitch markers
• Scrap yarn or stitch holders
• Tapestry needle

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows to 4in/10cm over stocking stitch, knit in the round using 3.75mm needles.
