Bubble Toes
This cropped sweater is perfect for layering. I was listening to the song “Bubble Toes” while designing this yoke, and bubbles just stayed on my mind! I hope this top makes you as happy as it makes me!
I used a self-striping yarn for a colorful effect, but this would look great in a solid or hand-dyed yarn as well.
Construction:
Sweater is worked top down and in the round. Short row shaping at the neck is included for a better fit. A stranded pattern that includes little cables (no cable needle needed!) decorates the yoke and adds visual and textural interest. Sleeve stitches are put on hold while the body is worked in stockinette stitch. The sleeves are picked up and worked last, creating a seamless garment.
Sizes: 1,(2,3,4),(5,6,7),(8,9,10).
Finished Bust Circumference: 32,(34.75,38,43.5),(46.25,49,55.25),(59,62.25,64.5)”/81.5,(88.5,96.5,110.5),(117.5,124.5,140.5),(150,158,164)cm.
Top is modeled in size 2 with +2”/5cm positive ease. To find the right size for you, measure around your bust at the fullest part and choose the size that is closest to your bust measurement, plus desired ease.
Gauge: 29 sts x 34 rounds = 4”/10cm in color work pattern, in the round and after blocking.
Yarn: Sport weight non-superwash wool in 2 contrasting colors.
Suggested yarn: Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool (200yds/50g).
Yarn requirements: MC (Main Color): Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool in Dead Reckoning (light purple/light blue). 595,(660,725,855),(915,980,1120),(1215,1310,1395)yds/ 149,(165,182,214),(229,245,280),(304,328,349)g.
3,(4,4,5),(5,5,6),(7,7,7) skeins.
CC (Contrast Color): Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool in Leith (dark blue). 190,(220,245,300),(325,355,410),(455,500,550)yds/48,(55,62,75),(82,89,103),(114,125,138)g.
1,(2,2,2),(2,2,3),(3,3,3) skeins.
Suggested needles: 24 or 32 inch circular needle in US 4 for main body plus an additional US 4 circular for holding large number of yoke stitches (if needed). 24 or 32 inch circular needle in US 2 for ribbing, plus straight needles 1 size smaller for Tubular Cast On, or sizes needed to achieve gauge.
