Pattern revised November 13, 2018 download to received an updated version.

Pattern includes instruction for both knitting flat and knitting in the round.

A straight forward “learn to knit” pattern was needed for the beginner knitting classes I teach. While waiting for my husband to finish his kayaking/fishing trip this hat pattern was created. A first project that wouldn’t take weeks to finish, knit on larger needles with a aran or worsted weight yarn.
For an experienced knitter Buffalo Jump is a quick satisfying knit. Make it fun with a one of a kind button or two or three! Add a detachable pompom for different or an optional look.

PATTERN NOTES
Since this pattern was created for beginner knitters it is worked flat, then seamed. The first set of instructions is for knitting flat on straight needles. The second set of instructions is for those who would like to knit in the round.
Only one size is given for a M/L sized head. Adjustments in length for a larger head or a slouchy hat can be easily added before crown decreasing. Need a smaller or larger hat circumference subtract or add stitches in increments of six.
Detachable pompom instructions can be found at the end of the pattern.
