Bulgarian Blooms by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts

Bulgarian Blooms

Priscilla writes in Sock Knitting Master Class:

“During my studies of historical knitting, I have become enamored with intarsia patterns worked in the round and short-row heels, both of which are included in these socks. In true Bulgarian patterns, the design extends from the instep
up the front of the leg. This places part of the design inside the shoe, especially with the clogs that I like to wear. The design could be placed higher on the foot where it wouldn’t
be covered by a shoe, but that always seems a little
off-balance to me. For these socks, I chose to center the
design on the outside half of each leg.”
