A bulky, warm, and cozy unisex hat for cold days.
Main pattern: 42 rib (1 purl, 4 twisted knit, 1 purl), additional patterns: 11 rib and stockinette stitch.
The main pattern repeat is 6 stitches, but the total number of stitches must be a multiple of 18 for symmetrical top decreases.
Construction: The hat is knitted in the round from bottom to top without seams. Symmetrical decreases for the top are worked in 3 wedges.
Original yarn:

  1. Drops Air 160m/50g
  2. Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk 140m/25g The hat can be knitted with 2 (1 thread of Drops Air + 1 thread of Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk) or 3 threads(1 thread of Drops Air + 2 threads of Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk) depending on the desired thickness. Yarn consumption: 60-70 grams. You will need 1 skein of each yarn type. Gauge:
  3. For 2 threads : 42 ribbing, 17 sts and 20 rows per 10/10 cm on 5 mm needles.
  4. For 3 threads : 42 ribbing, 15 sts and 17 rows per 10/10 cm on 4.5 mm needles. Alternative yarns: Any bulky yarn that gives the required gauge, or you can use 2, 3, or 4 threads of fine mohair, alpaca, or custom blended yarn. Needles: 40 cm circular needles #4mm and #5mm for knitting with 3 strands, or 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm for knitting with 2 strands. Make sure to knit a swatch and calculate your gauge and the number of stitches.
