Plaid rug with a high, dense pile. The pattern is simple with LOTS of pictures (and it’s free!). Works for any size rug.

The first rows of stitches are worked straight, forming the warp. For the weft, each row of stitches weaves over and under the existing rows. This forms a neat, symmetric tartan pattern in the rug. The weaving keeps the tall pile vertical so the rug is firm, not shaggy. The close stitching makes the rug dense and insulating.

No Gauge.
Stitches: ch, dc, sl st.
Special Materials: tapestry needle, rug pad (easy to find on Amazon or in homeware stores).
Yardage: 315 yards (a standard acrylic skein) covers about one square foot.
