Huivin voi neuloa millä tiheydellä ja minkälaisesta langasta tahansa. Mikäli haluat käyttää esimerkiksi tasan yhden kerän tai vyyhdin lankaa tähän huiviin, punnitse lanka ennen aloittamista ja pidä huoli, että huivin jälkimmäiselle puoliskolle jää vähän yli puolet langasta. Huivi on suunniteltu erityisesti yhden vyyhdin projektiksi fingering-vahvuiselle langalle, mutta ohje toimii erinomaisesti myös paksummilla ja ohuemmilla langoilla. Valitsemasi lanka ja puikkokoko vaikuttavat neuletiheyteen ja langanmenekkiin ja huivista on helppo neuloa minkä kokoinen tahansa. Huivi on lähes samannäköinen sekä oikealta että nurjalta puolelta, joten sen voi pukea kummin päin tahansa.

Kuvien huivi on neulottu tiheydellä 23 s ja 38 krs/10 cm fingering-vahvuisesta merinosukkalangasta (langassa 425 m/100 g, puikkokoko 3,75 mm) ja siihen kului yhteensä yksi 100 g vyyhti lankaa. Huivi on yläreunastaan 184 cm ja korkeimmalta kohdaltaan 34 cm mittainen.

Huivin suorassa (eli ylä)reunassa neulotaan koko huivin mitalta kolmen silmukan levyinen icord-huolittelu. Huivin keskiosassa on ainaoikeaa, jonka toisessa reunassa tehdään huivin ensimmäisellä puoliskolla lisäyksiä ja toisella puoliskolla kavennuksia. Näistä muodostuu huivin pitkä kolmiomuoto. Toiseen (eli ala)reunaan neulotaan kolmion muotoisista pitseistä muodostuva reunus. Pitsikuvio itsessään muuttaa työn silmukkamäärää, joten suosittelen käyttämään silmukkamerkkiä erottamaan pitsikuvion silmukat muista silmukoista.

This scarf can be knitted with any yarn and gauge you want to. It is a perfect project if you have just one skein of pretty yarn and want to use that. Just remember to weigh your yarn before starting so you’ll be able to save a bit more than half of that for the second part of the scarf. This pattern is designed especially for those single unique skeins of hand dyed fingering weight yarns most of us have in our stashes. It works great with other yarn weights, too. The yarn and needle size you choose will have an effect on your gauge and yardage/meterage you’ll need but you can easily knit this scarf bigger or smaller just by adding more pattern repeats. Bunting scarf looks almost similar at both sides so it is also very easy to put on.

The scarf pictured in this pattern is knitted with size 3,75 mm or US 5 needles and hand dyed fingering weight merino sock yarn (425 m/100 g or 465 yd/3.53 oz). The gauge is 23 st and 38 rows per 10 cm/4 in. I used exactly one skein of yarn for this.The measurements of my scarf: width 184 cm or 72.5 in, height 34 cm or 13.4 in.

There is an icord edging at the top side of the scarf. The middle part is knitted with garter stitch first increasing and then decreasing the stitch count. These increases and decreases will create the longish triangular shape of Bunting. Triangular lace at the bottom edges is easy to knit but adds something special to this scarf. The stitch count varies in the lace edging so I’ll recommend you to use a stitch marker to separate the lace stitches from other ones.
